Aloha everyone
I will be posting all the Hawaii info this next week.
Airfares are not bad. but should come down in sept when the airlines buy their fuel block and summer travel is over.
I am also in negotiations with a couple different airlines
trying to get a group rate.
Same with hotels.
Have all public venues Nailed down.

The jam band thing seems to've come and gone, but from what I've seen on myspace and on indie record label sites, many young psych-punk-pop-space-noise-rock bands and musicians are now citing, friending, and in general referencing NRPS, The Grateful Dead, QMS, and the Airplane as influences. It used to be that indie bands sneered at psychedelic music; now people are returning to vinyl and finding the treasures in 60s and 70s music. One of my brothers plays bass in several bands and he said the Dead cover band he's in plays to crowds of psyched 20 year-olds, that the people his age are home in bed, not at the bars these days. Maybe DNB could play a show with the Crooked Jades.... The Hippies Were Right USA - Saturday, July 03, 2010 at 18:32:36 (EDT) Dear Cynthia, it was a pleasure to meet and dance with you. Music will soothe the soul. maggi USA - Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:17:04 (EDT) To characterize my comments as insisting on "being unhappy and angry" is a gross distortion. Troubled by the animosity and cruelty here during David Nelson's birthday week, I merely suggested that there are larger concerns than Wiki entries, name-calling, and namedness. The Deepwater oil spill is an unprecedented challenge to the planet, and solutions are not imminent. Given this, what can one do, and how to maintain a resilient mood? I suggested we be kind, positive, helpful, do good where possible. In order to understand another person's words, one must first pause the internal dialogue a moment, suspend one's agenda, be present, and listen to what is being said. This doesn't appear to have happened here. How much have you given? It seems you have plenty of time to pass judgment on others. Anyone can type - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 18:47:22 (EDT) There are a lot more hopeless situations in the world than spilled crude... if you insist on being unhappy and angry, then look into the Story of Lead, its' mining, smelting, byproducts, uses, storage, dumping and the health problems it creates... it's No Lie there, no one wants to talk about it because there is nothing that can be done. It never breaks down. 'Til Entropy Do We Part mia the more you give of yourself, the better you will feel USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 18:05:16 (EDT) The point is BP should be paying for it. They should pay the Audubon society and any other organizations for their efforts. They should be paying restitution to all those affected. Put a few BP execs down that hole USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 17:21:47 (EDT) Who said anything about donating to BP, Halliburton, and the other oil crooks? The Audobon Society is working to clean up the gulf mess; giving a few dollars to them would help their efforts. Or donate to your local marine mammal center. You could give a bum a dollar. Earthling USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 14:57:11 (EDT) So much of what we are dealing with today is the product of decisions made by people who aren't even alive any more, or not very much so... This Ball we live on keeps gaining in complexity, interconnections, on less and lees resources... Problem resolution on Nature herself is often difficult as the origins can't always be undone. Our more recent Western Civ. ancestors had a completely different attitude about land use. The People before that didn't have any of Our Stuff. Our love of Earth as a meaningful personality is an offshoot of education, a refinement of modern culture. mia2 it's the life thing, USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 14:53:06 (EDT) back in the 1970's when we were killing Time standing in line at the pumps, my Mom, a former Navy employee, told me that Our government, since at least WW One, had been stockpiling oil against the day of diminishing resources, by pumping huge amounts, from ground wells, into caverns under the Gulf... this was done BEFORE any means of retrieval was known. It was believed that by the time the oil was needed technology would catch up to the need. It was believed at that time, WW TWO, we would always have plenty of margin, oil-wise, due to stockpiling. mia might be more than meets the eye, USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 14:34:21 (EDT) The last thing we should do is donate our money to those crooks. We have paid their salaries to the tunes of billions. It has been 2 months since the spill. What have they done? They should have used that money to find other resources and ways to avoid such tragedies. Let Bush pay USA - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 13:56:35 (EDT) Okay, here's a solution to the gulf oil spill nightmare. We build a Tardis and go back in time before the oil spill and before the platform was built and we don't build it. In the meantime, we plant trees, donate money to the oil spill cleanup efforts, put a bird feeder in your yard and feed the warblers, and drive less. Get a diesel, run it on biofuel, and then park it. Switch incandescent bulbs to high efficiency lights. We'll conserve energy and be mindful and use less. Eat vegetables. URGENT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY. Contd mark USA - Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 12:01:52 (EST) A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST. TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD. I feel like I'm getting a do-over from the old Dead days...night after night of great shows and listening to DNB in the car between gigs. These guys are on fire!!! maggi USA - Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 12:13:23 (EST) We have been enjoying our annual treat of listening to the Grateful Dead marathon on KPFA. This year we heard it on the internet from our home here in Pahoa. David Gans did another suberb show this year with special guest. Earlier he had Peter Rowan in studio. Peter played some songs and told great stories. The topper was when David Nelson came into the studio and was his usual wonderful self telling tales of yore and Gans proclaiming the Nelson Band to be, "The best Jam Band in the World". We could hear our own Marc B. in the background. Aloha Ray & Eth <fun3131 at sbcglobal.net> Hale O Nahenahe, bliss USA - Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 02:47:31 (EST) Well, that's too bad, I hadn't heard Moonalice yet and that Moe's show seemed like a good opportunity to do so, but there is other shows I can go to during that week... I thought Lesh's birthday was Mar. 15, what? he can't draw enough of a crowd to play midweek? That's odd, the DNB NRPS can fill the house on a mid-week show. A shortage of good drummers I can understand, it's very hard work! mia USA - Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 17:31:03 (EST) Molo will be right where he should be. After my commercial radio career back in Oregon, I did some volunteer shifts at KRVM and worked with David to get his show played on the Eugene airwaves. He bent over backwards to help us at that time. I also recorded his show at Stella's and hope to get that up and seeding soon(in addition to the DNB). I won't be able to make tonight at the Hard Rock (parking is a bitch up there and driving the Pali at night is risking your life) but plan to make it tomorrow at Paia. Gotta watch the Colts first (my brother in law is a scout for them). I let everyone know there were many people in the Nelson Family who were thinking of and missing Joe. Mizshely told everyone about Joe being the first DNB fan and Miss Cellophane recalled some lovely anecdotes and brought some cds Joe'd burned for her.
